On the occasion of Public Sector Day, SCOPE successfully held the DAKSH Dikshant Samaroh, a graduation ceremony for the first cohort of its premier senior leadership program. This initiative, in collaboration with the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) of the Indian government, featured addresses from notable figures including Shri Ajit Seth, former Cabinet Secretary and Chairman of PESB, and Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman of SCOPE and CMD at NBCC.
The event also marked the launch of a film celebrating Public Sector Day and the latest edition of SCOPE’s journal, KALEIDOSCOPE. It was attended by various dignitaries from government ministries and departments, top executives from Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), as well as academic partners from McKinsey & Company and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Participants included family members of the graduates, who witnessed the awarding of certificates to over 70 participants and the presentation of awards for the DAKSH’s Live Action Learning Projects (LALP).
The DAKSH program, which stands for Development of Aspiration, Knowledge, Succession & Harmony, offers a comprehensive 12-month educational experience. It aims to equip future public sector leaders with essential skills to address the sector’s dynamic and complex challenges.
During the ceremony, Shri Ajit Seth highlighted the importance of preparing leaders who can integrate national pride with proficiency to effectively manage diverse stakeholder interests. He praised SCOPE and CBC for their role in modernizing and enhancing skill sets within the public sector.
Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy discussed how the SCOPE-CBC partnership has been pivotal in nurturing transformative leadership, stressing the need for a fundamental change in mindset from functional to broad-based enterprise leadership.
Shri Atul Sobti described the DAKSH program as a transformative process that turns skilled professionals into far-sighted leaders, essential for advancing India. He inspired the graduates to view their achievements as the start of more significant roles and responsibilities.
Shri Adil Zainulbhai commended the graduates on their personal and professional growth, encouraging them to drive organizational and national advancement with a focused, mission-driven approach.
Ms. Alka Mittal emphasized the program’s commitment to developing leadership through collaborative learning and ongoing networking, urging graduates to dedicate themselves to continual personal growth.
Prof. Bharat Bhasker talked about the unique challenges of public sector leadership, which requires a deep understanding of organizational culture and a broad engagement with multiple stakeholders to be effective.
Lastly, Shri Amit Khera praised the graduates for their transition from acquiring knowledge to embracing a lifelong learning and service mindset, crucial for their future roles within their organizations.
