A strategic dialogue titled “Coaching for National Transformation” was recently hosted by SCOPE in collaboration with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), USA, which is recognized as the largest coaching body globally. The event saw keynotes from Shri Atul Sobti, Director General of SCOPE, alongside Ms. Magdalena Nowicka Mook, CEO of ICF, and Mr. Robert Garcia, Vice President and CIO of ICF. The roundtable drew participation from Chief Managing Directors, Directors, and senior representatives from significant public sector entities, along with members of the SCOPE Executive Board.
The discourse centered on the critical role of coaching in the current era, discussing its integration within organizational strategies of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) to boost efficacy. This gathering is a significant step in the ongoing partnership between SCOPE and ICF aimed at enhancing leadership and governance.
Mr. Atul Sobti elaborated on the objectives of this collaboration, pointing out the mutual commitment of SCOPE and ICF to elevate leadership skills and governance standards across the nation. He stressed the necessity of implementing coaching practices within organizational frameworks, which involves fostering an understanding of coaching, cultivating a supportive culture, and ensuring access to trained coaching professionals. He noted that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between SCOPE and ICF includes specific initiatives like conducting further roundtables, creating a cultural blueprint for coaching within PSEs, and establishing a network of both national and international qualified coaches.
Ms. Magdalena Nowicka Mook discussed the transformation of coaching into a strategic tool essential for enhancing leadership performance worldwide, describing it as a “strategic accelerator of performance.” She expressed the honor of collaborating with SCOPE and stressed the importance of prioritizing well-being and fundamental values in the face of current global challenges.
Mr. Robert Garcia championed the development of a strong coaching culture as a means to engage employees fully and advocated for a shift from traditional hierarchical structures to more inclusive, collaborative models through human-centric coaching approaches.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Ayush Gupta recapped the insights from the discussions, emphasizing the value of coaching in the public sector to navigate the complex landscape of diverse expectations.
The partnership between SCOPE and ICF is focused on embedding systematic, professional coaching methodologies in the public sector, aligning with the globally esteemed standards of ICF. This initiative represents a strategic endeavor to enhance the operational efficiency and leadership dynamics within PSEs.
