In a move that ensures steady leadership at India’s largest power utility, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of re-employment of Shri Gurdeep Singh as Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC Limited.
The ACC has cleared the Ministry of Power’s proposal to extend Shri Gurdeep Singh’s tenure on contract basis beyond 31 July 2026 for a further period of six months with effect from 1 August 2026, or till the regular incumbent assumes charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.
The decision provides continuity at the helm of NTPC at a time when the company continues to drive capacity expansion, renewable energy growth and operational excellence across the power sector.
