Bridging Skills Gap: Inside the New CII-NBCC Training Center

Inauguration of the CII-NBCC Training Center

On a notable day for skill development in India, Shri Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary of Housing & Urban Affairs, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHuA), officially opened the doors to the new CII-NBCC Training Center located in Ghitorni. The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Shri Rajiv Arora, Joint Secretary, MoHuA; Shri K. P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD of NBCC; Dr. Suman Kumar, Director (Commercial) of NBCC; along with other high-ranking officials from NBCC.

A Strategic Collaboration for Skill Development

In an effort to address the skill shortages prevalent across the country and to enhance job readiness among the youth, NBCC has partnered with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to set up a Multi Skill Training Institute (MSTI) and a Model Career Centre (MCC) at Ghitorni, Delhi. This initiative is poised to significantly contribute to empowering the Indian youth with relevant industry skills, thereby boosting employability and promoting economic advancement.

Impact on Youth and Employment

The training initiatives are designed to benefit the youth in Delhi and the adjacent areas by providing them with essential skills that meet the demands of today’s evolving job market. The program includes several key components aimed at enhancing the career prospects of participants:

  • Career counselling to guide youth on possible career paths
  • Job fairs to connect trained candidates with potential employers
  • Industry linkages that facilitate direct placements after training

Furthermore, the training center will offer specialized bridge courses that focus on reskilling and upskilling, preparing participants for high-demand sectors such as retail, manufacturing, BPO, and logistics. These comprehensive educational efforts are tailored to equip young individuals with the skills needed to thrive in the modern workforce.

Through these strategic educational and training efforts, the newly inaugurated CII-NBCC Training Center is set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the workforce in India, turning skill enhancement into viable career opportunities for many.
