The Attorney General of India, Shri R. Venkataramani, set the stage for a productive discourse at the program focusing on “Labour Law Reforms in India – Navigating a Way Forward Against the Headwinds.” The event, hosted by Rightmen Services India, brought together esteemed guests and industry experts to address the challenges hindering the implementation of the new Labour Codes.

Dr. Manoj Kumar, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Law & Justice, stressed the importance of thorough consultation and transparency in the legislative process. He emphasized the need for capacity building at the state level to ensure a seamless transition towards effective implementation. Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman of SCOPE & CMD of NBCC, shed light on the critical role of Public Sector Enterprises in upholding and enforcing labor laws for the benefit of all stakeholders.

The day-long deliberation featured three technical sessions, each chaired by distinguished industry leaders. Discussions centered on the urgency of implementing the Labour Codes to drive sustainable economic growth. While many stakeholders advocated for a prompt rollout, trade unions expressed apprehensions and called for a comprehensive review of the legislation.

Representatives from various sectors, including corporate entities, academia, and trade unions, highlighted the importance of striking a balance between stakeholders’ interests and national economic priorities. The consensus emerging from the program underscored the necessity of formulating a pragmatic action plan that considers diverse perspectives while advancing the country’s economic agenda.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from renowned Maharatna and Navratna PSUs such as Powergrid Corporation, GAIL India, REC, HAL, SJVN, NHPC, NBCC, BEML, CONCOR, and CEL. Additionally, leading PSU banks like Central Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank, and cooperatives like IFFCO and Indian Potash actively engaged in the discussions, showcasing a collective commitment to navigating the complexities of labor law reforms in India.
