CBI Arrests CGST Additional Commissioner, Superintendent and Private Person in Rs 40 Lakh Raigad Bribery Case

CBI Arrests CGST Additional Commissioner, Superintendent and Private Person in Rs 40 Lakh Raigad Bribery Case

Raigad, Maharashtra | 28.08.2026:** A GST/royalty matter involving a stone-quarrying firm in Raigad has led to a major CBI action, with three arrests linked to an alleged Rs. 40 Lakh bribery case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested an IRS officer posted as Additional Commissioner of Central Goods and Services Tax, a CGST Superintendent from Raigad, and a private person on 27.08.2026.

According to the case registered by the CBI on 26 August, 2026, the accused CGST Superintendent allegedly sought an undue advantage of Rs. 1.50 Crore to settle the complainant’s GST/royalty matter. The amount was later brought down to Rs. 40 Lakh after negotiation.

The accused public servants allegedly used a private person to collect the bribe and directed the complainant accordingly. The CBI then set a trap and caught the private person red-handed while accepting Rs. 40 Lakh.

The acceptance of the amount was later acknowledged by both the accused CGST Superintendent and the accused Additional Commissioner of CGST.

All three accused have been arrested and are being produced before the competent court. Searches at their premises led to further recovery of Rs. 43 Lakh in cash and jewellery valued at approximately Rs. 90 Lakh.

Further investigation is continuing.
