(By Z A Ansari:) New Delhi, September 17, 2026: The selection process for the post of Director (Marketing) at GAIL (India) Limited is understood to have reached an important stage, with the Public Enterprises Selection Board reportedly completing the shortlisting exercise.
Panel of Candidates Said to Be Ready
According to sources familiar with the development, around 40 to 45 candidates are believed to have applied for the position. It is further learnt that a panel of 12 candidates has been prepared for the next stage of the selection process.
While an official confirmation is awaited, sources indicate that the shortlisted candidates may be informed about the interview schedule in due course. The final selection will be subject to the established procedures followed for senior-level appointments in public sector enterprises.
Current Tenure Ends in June 2027
The development comes ahead of the completion of the current tenure of Sanjay Kumar, who is serving as Director (Marketing) at GAIL (India) Limited. His tenure is scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2027.
Mr. Kumar has been holding the position since June 15, 2023. The post is considered significant in view of GAIL’s role in India’s natural gas marketing, transmission, and energy sector operations.
The interview process is expected to be the next key stage once formal communication is issued to the shortlisted candidates.
