CBI apprehends Delhi Police sub-inspector in Prashant Vihar bribery case
**New Delhi, October 5, 2026:** The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) says it apprehended a Delhi Police sub-inspector posted at Prashant Vihar Police Station after catching him demanding and accepting ₹80,000 on October 4. The payment was allegedly the balance of a ₹1 lakh bribe sought from a person whose criminal case the officer was investigating.
How the CBI Delhi Police bribery case unfolded
According to the CBI’s statement, the sub-inspector had allegedly asked for the money in exchange for favouring the complainant in a case registered against him at Prashant Vihar Police Station.
The complaint also alleged that, during a personal search, the officer found ₹20,000 in the complainant’s pocket and took it under duress. He then told the complainant to bring the remaining ₹80,000 the next day, the CBI said.
The agency registered its case on October 4 and laid a trap that day. It says the sub-inspector was caught while demanding and accepting the ₹80,000.
