In his address, Sh. Manohar Lal congratulated THDCIL and its partners for their successful completion of the project, highlighting the pivotal role of the Khurja STPP in enhancing the power supply and stabilizing the grid in Uttar Pradesh and across the nation. He noted that the project sets a benchmark in the thermal power sector and underscores THDCIL’s transition from a primarily hydropower firm to a multi-faceted energy company.

Shri A K Sharma echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the strategic importance of the new unit in meeting the increasing energy demands of India. He pointed out that Uttar Pradesh would benefit immensely, receiving 64.7% of the electricity generated, thereby boosting the state’s energy independence and regional economic growth.

Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority, commented on the national significance of the project, affirming that the Khurja STPP will reinforce the commitment to creating a robust, efficient, and sustainable energy infrastructure in India.

Sh. R.K. Vishnoi, CMD of THDC India Limited, expressed his gratitude for the support from the Government of India and the State of Uttar Pradesh, as well as from NTPC, which played a crucial role in the project’s execution. He highlighted the project’s advanced features, including the use of ultra-supercritical technology and high-efficiency environmental safeguards, which ensure reduced emissions and efficient operation.

The Khurja STPP, which now has a total capacity of 1320 MW with both units operational, is expected to generate approximately 9,264 MU annually. This output will significantly contribute to the national grid, enhancing the power capacity and reliability of India’s energy network.

The successful completion of this project, especially in the face of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, marks a major milestone in India’s journey towards achieving energy security and sustainability.
