Subhankar Sen Discusses BPCL’s Role in PNG Drive 2.0

Mumbai: Subhankar Sen, the Marketing Director at BPCL, highlighted the significance of the PNG Drive 2.0 initiative as a vital convergence of industry forces united by a common goal. He pointed out that this coalition facilitates a simplified decision-making process for consumers by offering continuous, affordable, and clean energy solutions. Such collective efforts are pivotal in hastening the adoption of PNG and CNG, crucial for realizing India’s goal to augment the proportion of natural gas within its energy framework.

The initiative, PNG Drive 2.0, is envisioned as a nationwide cooperative campaign. It merges various City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies into a unified force with standardized messaging and creative expressions, alongside a synchronized approach to public engagement. This strategy aims to bolster consumer awareness and ease the transition to these gases by underscoring their day-to-day benefits such as consistent availability, reduced emissions, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use in domestic, transportation, and commercial settings.

To broaden the initiative’s appeal and foster deeper connections with consumers across different regions and demographics, well-known figures have been integrated into the campaign at an industry-wide level, enhancing its breadth and inclusivity.

BPCL has been selected to spearhead the PNG Drive 2.0 due to its proven expertise in structured campaign management. This leadership role involves orchestrating the campaign’s execution and promoting cooperation among CGD stakeholders, in accordance with guidelines from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). This ensures a unified message while allowing for adaptations to meet local needs.

The campaign promotes the tangible benefits of PNG and CNG, emphasizing their role as reliable energy sources that ensure continuous supply via city gas networks, produce fewer emissions, and offer long-term savings compared to traditional fuels. These advantages contribute to stable energy access and uninterrupted daily activities, encapsulating the campaign’s theme of “Non-Stop Zindagi.”

On the ground, PNG Drive 2.0 is gaining traction, with CGD teams nationwide proactively engaging with the public through educational programs, community events, digital interactions, and direct activations. This coordinated effort aims to create extensive awareness and achieve substantial impact in both urban and semi-urban areas across the country.

This initiative is in line with India’s strategy to transition towards cleaner energy and supports the national goal to increase the share of natural gas in its energy mix from the current 6.5% to 15% by 2030. By promoting wider use of PNG and CNG, the campaign contributes to reducing emissions, enhancing air quality, and optimizing energy utilization across various sectors including residential, transport, and commercial.
