Rajasthan’s Rural Healthcare Receives a Significant Boost with REC’s Mobile Medical Units

Rajasthan’s Rural Healthcare Receives a Significant Boost with REC’s Mobile Medical Units

Alwar, October 6, 2025 – In a significant move to enhance healthcare accessibility in Rajasthan’s rural districts, REC Limited has committed ₹5.71 crore towards the deployment of Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society of Alwar. This initiative, supported under REC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavors, aims to deliver critical healthcare services to the most isolated and underserved communities of the region.

The initiative was inaugurated with the flagging off of five state-of-the-art MMUs by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, alongside Shri Sanjay Sharma, the State Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Science & Technology. The event, held on October 5, 2025, saw participation from key stakeholders including REC’s CSR team and Shri M. L. Meena, GM & HoD. Prominent figures from the district administration and the Indian Red Cross Society were also in attendance, underscoring the collaborative effort of this project.

The MMUs, equipped with advanced GPS-enabled tracking systems, are set to traverse through Alwar, Bhartari, and Behror-Kotpuli districts. These units are designed to overcome geographical and infrastructural barriers that have traditionally impeded the delivery of healthcare services in these regions. Each unit is a self-contained medical facility, capable of providing free medical consultations, treatment, essential medicines, and crucial preventive healthcare education.

“This initiative is not just about treating illnesses but is a proactive approach to healthcare, bringing medical services to doorsteps of those who need it the most,” said Shri Bhupender Yadav during the flag-off ceremony. He emphasized the government’s commitment to improving health outcomes in rural India by reducing the healthcare service gap between urban and rural areas.

The program is structured to function over a three-year period, with an aim to impact over 10,000 individuals monthly. By focusing on preventive care and awareness, the initiative also seeks to reduce the incidence of preventable diseases, which are prevalent in rural populations due to lack of education and healthcare facilities.

Shri Sanjay Sharma highlighted that the MMUs are a crucial step towards achieving equitable healthcare distribution across the state. “Through these mobile units, we are not just providing healthcare but also educating communities, thereby empowering them to take charge of their health,” he remarked.

The launch of the MMUs marks a pivotal moment in Rajasthan’s healthcare landscape, promising a healthier future for its rural populace. With continued governmental and corporate partnership, such initiatives are set to redefine healthcare accessibility and effectiveness, bridging the gap between rural and urban healthcare standards.
