Ropar: The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has earned recognition from the 27th Army Technology Board (ATB) for two strategic defence initiatives focused on Autonomous Armoured Vehicles and Directed Energy Weapons, together valued at Rs. 120 Crore.
Operating under the Indian Army’s Military Operations Directorate, the ATB selects leading academic bodies equipped to develop scalable solutions in frontier domains. This dual selection highlights IIT Ropar’s proven expertise across robotics, autonomous systems, advanced photonics, and laser applications.

These endeavours support the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by fostering self-reliant advancements in modern defence solutions. The projects are poised to open avenues for collaboration with regional startups, MSMEs, and industry players, strengthening the innovation ecosystem.
