India’s Ministry of Power Initiates Key Meeting to Propel Digital Infrastructure in Energy Sector

New Delhi, November 24, 2025 — In a significant move to boost India’s power sector, the Ministry of Power has orchestrated a crucial meeting of the India Energy Stack (IES) Taskforce. This assembly marks a key step in expediting the development of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) tailored for the energy industry.
The IES is designed to be a robust, secure, and interoperable digital framework that supports the entire energy value chain. REC Limited has been designated as the Nodal Agency for this initiative, with FSR Global providing expertise as the Knowledge Partner.
Objective and Discussion Points of the Meeting
The primary agenda of the gathering was to evaluate and discuss two principal documents that form the foundation of the IES: the draft IES Strategy Document (version 0.1) and the IES Architecture Document (version 0.1).
A group of experts from the technology and power sectors, along with regulatory authorities, participated in a comprehensive roundtable discussion. This discussion aimed to integrate strategic insights from all the Taskforce members into the ongoing development of the IES framework.

- Dr. Ram Sewak Sharma, Taskforce Chairman and former Director General of UIDAI and CEO of the National Health Authority
- Sh. Pramod Verma, Chief Architect and co-founder of FIDE, and former Chief Architect of Aadhaar
- Sh. Pradeep Kumar Pujari, Vice Chair and Distinguished Fellow at FSR Global, former Chairman of CERC, and former Secretary of Power
- Additional members including leaders from CEA, AIDA, REC Limited, Grid India, IEEMA, FSR Global, FIDE, NITI Aayog, and more.
Shri Jitendra Srivastava, CMD of REC Limited and a central figure in the IES initiative, highlighted the importance of the meeting. He stated, “Today’s meeting is a pivotal milestone in our shared national ambition to create a unified, open, and future-ready digital backbone for India’s entire energy sector. The IES Strategy and Architecture documents are vital frameworks that will be enriched by the collective wisdom and guidance of our esteemed Taskforce members. The inputs received will help consolidate the framework and shape the pathway toward refinement and the pilot phase.”
This initiative signifies a major leap towards transforming the Indian energy sector into a more integrated, efficient, and sustainable system. The contributions from various domain experts and leaders are expected to drive the IES towards becoming a cornerstone of India’s energy infrastructure.
