In a recent announcement from Gurugram on August 14, 2026, the corporate communication team at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) revealed that the company has been recognized with the PMIS Recognition of Partner Company Award. The award, falling under the category of ‘Innovation in Exit Pathways’, was given during a ceremony at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.

The honor was bestowed by Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, Secretary at the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Accepting the award on behalf of POWERGRID was Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel), accompanied by Sh. B. K. Mundu, Executive Director of Human Resource Development, and other team members. The ceremony also saw participation from notable government officials including Sh. Anshuman Patnaik, Additional Secretary, and Sh. D. Balamurugan, Joint Secretary.

Since its inception in December 2024, the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) has seen active involvement from POWERGRID, which has provided 6,265 internship placements nationwide by the end of December 2025. This engagement underscores POWERGRID’s dedication to promoting skill development and increasing employability within the power sector.

In an innovative approach to bolster employment, POWERGRID has partnered with the Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC). This collaboration has ensured that information about all PMIS interns trained at POWERGRID is accessible on the PSSC’s Rozgaar portal, thereby boosting their visibility and job prospects. The initiative also includes apprentices trained under the Apprenticeship Act of 1961 and other skill-enhancement programs related to power transmission line tower erection and stringing.

As of July 31, 2026, POWERGRID operates 292 Sub-Stations and manages more than 186,889 circuit kilometers of transmission lines. It also boasts a transformation capacity of 637,016 MVA, maintaining a robust transmission system across the region.
