Platforms such as the India–Arab Energy Dialogue, the Conference on Compressed Biogas, startups challenges like Avinya 3.0 (161 applications) and Vasudha 3.0 (20 global applications, 4 new countries), and dedicated hackathons expand engagement across innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. He added that nearly 80 percent of incremental global energy demand came from emerging and developing economies, with close to 60 percent originating in Developing Asia. On the other hand, around 730 million people still live without access to electricity, andnearly 2 billion, almost one quarter of the global population, continue to rely on cookingmethods that are harmful to human health and well-being. This highlights that ensuring universal, affordable, and clean energy access remains a central development and equity challenge for the global community. Over the past decade, renewables have grown rapidly.
Their share in global electricity generation has increased from around one-fifth to nearly one-third, supported by falling costs and policy momentum. Yet conventional energy continues to play a critical role. The history of energy has never been about replacement alone. It has been about addition. New sources have consistently complemented existing ones, allowing systems to expand and adapt. This remains the defining reality of the global energy transition. As the world’s third-largest energy consumer and one of the fastest-growing major economies, India stands at the heart of this global transformation. Our energy demand will continue to expand, with all sources set to grow. By 2050, India’s share of global energy demand is projected to rise by nearly 30-35%, reaching around 10 percent of the total global energy demand. Yet, with per capita energy consumption still at only about 40 percent of the global average, India’s growth journey remains both necessary and responsible. He went on to speak on capacity building exercises, amendments in laws, India’s launch of the tenth OALP-X bidding round, Special Coal Bed Methane Bid Round 2025, and the Discovered Small Fields (DSF)-IV bid round, Ultra Deep-Water Exploration Acreage’s award and 3D seismic line acquisition was 30% plus complete. Despite prolonged global volatility, India has shielded its citizens from sharp price shocks. India remained firmly committed to clean energy. India achieved nearly 20% ethanol blending in ESY 2025, resulting in foreign exchange savings of around USD 19.3 billion and direct payments exceeding USD 15 billion to farmers over the past decade, he said. India also remains on track to meet its compressed biogas targets, reflecting rapid progress in bioenergy. India is also unlocking the potential of nuclear energy as a pillar of India’s future energy system with an ambition of 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047. Shipbuilding represented another powerful growth avenue in India, supported by the Government’s USD 8 billion package to boost the shipbuilding and maritime sector, a strong foundation for capacity expansion, industrial scale-up, and new investment partnerships across the maritime value chain has ben done.
India has become a leading hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with over 1,700 GCCs already established across the country. In just five years, their combined revenue has jumped from USD 40.4 billion in FY19 to USD 64.6 billion in FY24, with growth rate of 9.8% annually. The sector is projected to reach USD 105 billion by 2030, supported bynearly 2,400 GCCc employing over 2.8 million professionals. Through cooperation, innovation, and shared responsibility, India stands ready to work with partners worldwide to build an energy future that is secure, resilient, and inclusive. As the global energy landscape continues to evolve, the choices India makes today will shape resilience, prosperity, and sustainability for decades to come. India Energy Week brings together the ideas, expertise, and leadership needed to convert dialogue into direction and direction into delivery. He cajoled all to approach this week with a shared focus on cooperation and outcomes. May India Energy Week serve as a catalyst for collective progress and a forum where solutions are shaped for the benefit of the world, he added.
