New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL), a prominent engineering consultancy and EPC firm operating under the auspices of India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has formalized an agreement with the Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA), previously known as the Directorate General of Shipping.
This pact, endorsed by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, was established on July 24, 2026. Under this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), EIL is set to provide a broad spectrum of services including engineering expertise, technical consulting, project oversight, and general consultancy.
These services will assist DGMA in various initiatives ranging from the planning and development to the modernization of maritime projects.
This collaboration will utilize EIL’s rich background in sectors such as hydrocarbons, along with marine and offshore projects, aiming to leverage its wide-ranging skills in engineering, project management, digital innovation, sustainability, and infrastructure enhancement.
The efforts will focus on conducting feasibility studies, planning infrastructure, integrating technology, expanding capacity, and offering other specialized technical services as agreed upon by both entities. This partnership is in line with the Indian Government’s strategy to elevate the standard of maritime infrastructure and fortify the maritime industry as a pivotal element in the nation’s economic expansion.
The initiative is anticipated to boost efficiency, promote sustainable practices, and facilitate the integration of advanced technologies within the maritime sector’s infrastructure and management processes. Both EIL and DGMA are committed through this MoU to enhance institutional cooperation, champion technical superiority, and support the evolution of a robust, modern, and sustainable maritime framework in India.
