NHPC Bravery: 280 MW Power Supply Uninterrupted in Dharchula

The NHPC employee is safely generating 280 MW of power for the people of the country at Dhauliganga Power Station in Dharchula. In recent news reports, there have been rumours circulating about laborers being trapped in tunnels at the NHPC project in Pithoragarh. However, information received from NHPC states that the workers engaged in shift duty in Power House cavern are safe and performing duty. The NHPC’s 280 MW hydro power station at Dhauliganga near Dharchula in Pithoragarh district, approximately 100 kilometers ahead, continues to generate electricity without any problem.

Due to heavy rainfall causing rock fall from above hill slope, the main access tunnel and cable cum ventilation tunnel passages of the power house cavern are blocked by continuous rockfalls. As a safety measure, employees are currently not being allowed to out of the power house cavern through these portals/ passages.

They are working inside, ensuring the production of electricity, with arrangements made for their food and beverages. For their safety, they are being kept indoors to avoid any accidents due to falling rocks. Once the rockfalls cease, all employees will be allowed to exit the premises and new shift working will start.

NHPC assures that the situation is under control, and all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of the workers.

The employees are dedicated to their tasks and are focused on their respective duties until it is safe for them to come out. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation.
