BPCL’s 72nd AGM will focus on energy transition and strategic growth projects.

(By Z. A. Ansari )Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has announced that its 72nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held virtually on Monday, 25th August 2025, at 10:30 AM via Video Conferencing or Other Audio Visual Means. This move underscores BPCL’s growing reliance on digital technologies to enhance stakeholder participation and organizational transparency.

More than a routine event, this year’s AGM is set to spotlight BPCL’s forward-looking agenda, as the company prepares to share progress on several transformational initiatives aligned with India’s energy transition goals. Among the key future projects expected to be discussed:

• Green Hydrogen Production: BPCL is advancing its plans to set up green hydrogen production facilities at its Bina and Kochi refineries. These units are being designed to produce hydrogen from renewable sources, helping decarbonize operations and support industrial usage.

• Electric Vehicle Infrastructure: The company is targeting the installation of over 7,000 electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging stations across highways and urban areas by 2028. This move aims to bolster India’s EV adoption and strengthen BPCL’s non-fuel retail ecosystem.

• Expansion in Petrochemicals: As part of its diversification strategy, BPCL is investing in an integrated petrochemical complex at Bina Refinery, with an estimated outlay of ₹49,000 crore. This project is expected to significantly enhance its value chain and earnings profile over the next few years.

Renewable energy:Installed renewable energy capacity stands at 154.86 MW, including 143.06 MW from solar and 11.8 MW from wind. An additional 171 MW is under development, with a 71 MW solar project in Prayagraj nearing completion and 50 MW wind projects each in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra awarded. We also secured 150 MW through NTPC’s solar utility tender, marking a major expansion of our green energy portfolio. A total of 12,244 Retail Outlets (ROs) have been solarized out of 23,642 ROs. Additionally, we have installed solar lights at 7,563 ROs.

• Digital Transformation: The company continues to invest heavily in digitization through its “Project Anubhav” initiative to modernize customer experience, supply chain, and internal operations using AI, cloud, and data analytics.

As BPCL transitions from a traditional oil marketing company to an integrated energy player, this AGM will serve as a vital forum for reviewing ongoing strategies, evaluating performance metrics, and detailing long-term capital expenditure plans.

For shareholders, this meeting represents a key opportunity to stay updated on BPCL’s evolving growth trajectory and actively participate in discussions that will shape the company’s future in a rapidly changing energy landscape.
