GOA: The 2026 India Energy Week (IEW) kicked off today in Goa, inaugurated by Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Addressing a diverse international audience, Minister Puri extended a warm welcome and underscored the significance of the event as a pivotal platform for global energy discourse.
Minister Puri highlighted the impressive growth of IEW, now in its fourth edition, noting an increase in participants, exhibitors, and country pavilions compared to previous years. Over 75,000 energy professionals and more than 700 companies are participating, reflecting a vibrant expansion in scope and influence, with representation from over 120 countries.
This year’s theme, “Energizing Growth, Securing Economies and Enriching Lives,” captures the essential role of energy in driving economic advancement and improving quality of life. The event features over 550 speakers and more than 110 sessions, addressing strategic and technical aspects of the energy sector.
Minister Puri also pointed out the challenges and opportunities in the global energy landscape, noting the significant demand from emerging economies and the ongoing reliance on traditional energy sources alongside the rapid growth of renewables. He emphasized the dual imperative of energy transition and security, advocating for an integrated approach that accommodates increasing energy demands while advancing sustainability.
India, as a major energy consumer and a rapidly growing economy, is at the forefront of these global shifts. The government has introduced several initiatives to bolster the energy sector, including legislative reforms and strategic exploration projects, aimed at enhancing India’s energy independence and capacity.
The event also serves as a platform for rich dialogue and collaboration, featuring side events like the India–Arab Energy Dialogue and various innovation challenges, which foster a comprehensive exchange of ideas across policy, technology, and market domains.
Distinguished guests, including Dr. Sultan Al Jaber from the UAE, Canada’s Minister of Energy Tim Hodgson, and Goa’s Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, among others, were present, reflecting the high-level engagement and international cooperation that characterizes the event.
India Energy Week is set to catalyze important discussions and partnerships, with a focus on shaping a resilient and sustainable energy future. The gathering underscores India’s pivotal role in the global energy arena and its commitment to fostering an inclusive, secure, and thriving energy landscape.
