HPCL Co-Hosts 29th Energy Technology Meet in Goa

Goa, 27.10.26 – By NewsIP Bureau – Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is co-hosting the 29th Energy Technology Meet (ETM 2026), inaugurated by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri at the ONGC Advanced Training Institute in Goa on October 27. The three-day event focuses on accelerating energy innovation, research and commercialisation.

Organised by the Centre for High Technology (CHT) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, ETM 2026 is being held under the theme “Accelerating Energy Innovation: From ReseaRead about HPCL co-hosting the 29th Energy Technology Meet in Goa and the key details covered at the event.rch to Commercialisation.” The event brings together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, technology providers and energy experts to discuss emerging technologies across the energy value chain.

The programme features more than 2,500 delegates, over 250 speakers, 44 technical sessions and more than 220 exhibition stalls, according to the event details provided by the Ministry.

During a fireside chat, Puri discussed India’s response to global energy supply disruptions and measures to maintain fuel availability while protecting consumers from the impact of international market volatility. He highlighted the role of domestic production, diversified imports and coordination among oil and gas public sector undertakings, refineries and distribution networks.

The Minister also emphasised the importance of strengthening domestic LPG production and maintaining continuity in fuel supplies. Discussing the country’s retail distribution network, he said India had managed to ensure that not a single retail outlet went dry despite disruptions.

The discussions also covered India’s long-term energy security priorities, including compressed biogas (CBG), sustainable aviation fuel, next-generation biofuels and the commercial deployment of indigenous technologies. CBG can support waste-to-energy initiatives by converting agricultural residue and organic waste into fuel while creating additional opportunities for farmers and rural communities.

A key announcement was the proposed National Hydrocarbon Technology Hub (NHTH), which will subsume the existing Centre for High Technology and operate with an expanded mandate. The platform is intended to coordinate research and development among central public sector enterprises, private-sector organisations, start-ups, MSMEs, academic institutions and research centres.

The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration, reduce duplication in research and accelerate the development and commercial deployment of indigenous energy technologies under the vision of “One Vision, One Ecosystem.”

The event also highlighted two government initiatives supporting energy diversification and domestic production. The National Circular Bioenergy Scheme, known as GOBARdhan, has an outlay of ₹23,731 crore for FY 2026–27 to FY 2035–36. The Samudra Manthan National Offshore Exploration Scheme has an approved outlay of ₹84,084 crore up to FY 2030–31 to support exploration in deepwater and ultra-deepwater areas.

The exhibition features technology providers, process licensors, engineering firms and energy companies showcasing solutions for the downstream hydrocarbon sector. Key focus areas include green hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel, carbon capture, crude-to-chemicals, biofuels, gas-based energy, refining technologies and digitalisation.

ETM GOA

ETM 2026, continuing until October 29, also includes start-up ecosystem sessions, MC² Ignite, Start-Up Awards, Refinery Performance & Innovation Awards and an R&D Conclave organised by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI). The conclave will address net-zero refineries, energy efficiency, green hydrogen, biomass valorisation, water management and emerging technologies.
