CBG-CGD Synchronisation: A Leap Towards Cleaner Fuel

Tripartite Collaboration to Boost CBG Integration in India’s Energy Sector

In a significant move towards enhancing the adoption of renewable energy within India’s gas distribution networks, a key agreement was signed during the India Energy Week 2026. GAIL Gas Limited, GAIL (India) Limited, and Reliance Industries Limited have come together under a Tripartite Agreement (TPA) to facilitate the incorporation of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) into the City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks. This initiative falls under the CBG–CGD Synchronisation Scheme.

The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of notable executives including Shri Goutom Chakraborty, CEO of GAIL Gas, Shri Sudhir Kumar Dixit, Chief Operating Officer, and Shri Amit Jhalani, CFO. The agreement specifically targets the Geographical Areas of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and Raisen in Madhya Pradesh, aiming to ensure a smooth supply and integration of CBG.

This partnership is poised to significantly bolster the CBG ecosystem, promoting the use of renewable fuels across the natural gas value chain. The initiative not only supports the environmental goals but also aligns with India’s broader objectives of transitioning to a sustainable and low-carbon energy future.
