A New Chapter in Oil and Gas Industry: bp and EIL’s Partnership Set to Bring Change

(New Delhi, IEW25, February 11, 2025): During the India Energy Week 2025 (IEW25) in New Delhi, British international energy giant bp and India’s leading engineering consultancy Engineers India Limited (EIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in oil, gas, and refining activities. This partnership aims to combine the capabilities of both companies to explore new opportunities and work on strategic projects.

The MoU signing took place in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, along with MoPNG Secretary Shri Pankaj Jain, EIL CMD Ms. Vartika Shukla, bp TSI Head Molyama Kromah, and EIL Director-Commercial Mr. Atul Gupta, among other senior leaders.

According to the MoU, bp and EIL will form joint working teams to provide technical support for bp’s global assets in areas like refining, terminals and pipelines, offshore, and subsea operations. The scope of collaboration may also expand to include renewable energy and emerging energy vectors in the future. The agreement is valid for three years.

Conclusion: Key Advantages and Challenges

Plus Points: • The collaboration will harness bp and EIL’s combined expertise to drive innovation in the oil and gas sector. • bp will gain access to enhanced technical support for its global operations. • The potential inclusion of renewable energy offers long-term growth prospects.

Minus Points: • Volatility in the global energy market may pose risks to the partnership. • New projects could face technical and business challenges.

This strategic partnership is poised to open new doors for India’s energy industry and may serve as a model for future collaborations.
