New Delhi: A serious allegation of medical negligence has been levelled against the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in Vasant Kunj, after the death of a patient undergoing treatment for lung-related issues.
Shiv Shankar Bharati, a retired Delhi Police officer and son of the deceased patient, has accused the hospital of gross negligence, claiming that medications meant for another patient were administered to his father, which ultimately led to his death.
According to Bharati, his father was admitted to the ICU/HDU at ILBS for treatment of a lung condition. He alleged that due to the hospital staff’s error, the patient received incorrect medication, resulting in a fatal outcome.
Speaking to the media, Bharati said the family has now come to know about the alleged mix-up in medication after the patient’s demise. A PCR (Police Control Room) call has also been registered in the matter, and further police action is awaited.
The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences is a premier super-specialty hospital in the national capital known for liver and biliary care, but it also handles other critical cases.
This incident has once again raised concerns about patient safety and medication protocols in reputed medical institutions. Authorities are expected to investigate the complaint thoroughly.
Further details are awaited as the matter is under scrutiny.
