Goa: January 28, 2026: In a significant development in the energy sector, Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) and Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) have forged a partnership through a Master Agreement effective from January 27, 2026. This one-year contract, with potential for renewal, involves PLL sourcing LNG cargoes and supplying Regasified LNG (RLNG) to MGL.
This collaboration is designed to enhance MGL’s ability to manage its gas supply more effectively, adjusting to international spot market fluctuations. PLL aims to maximize the efficiency of its regasification facilities and will provide comprehensive LNG sourcing and regasification solutions to various gas consumers, including City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks. These services are expected to include significant storage capabilities and flexible operational terms.
The signing ceremony took place at the India Energy Week 2026 in Goa, with key executives Shri Akshay Kumar Singh, Managing Director & CEO of PLL, and Shri Ashu Singhal, Managing Director of MGL, officiating the agreement.
It is important to note that MGL is an affiliate of PLL, with GAIL owning a 32.5% stake in MGL, ensuring that the agreement adheres to fair market practices. This strategic alignment underscores both companies’ commitment to enhancing the efficiency and reliability of gas supply in the region.
