The approval gives Power Grid Corporation of India Limited a sizeable debt-raising route through its POWERGRID Bonds — LXXXIV (84th) Issue 2026-27. The instrument will be listed on BSE and NSE, providing market access for eligible investors and regulatory transparency under SEBI’s listing framework.
The proposed issue includes a base issue size of ₹1,000 crore and a green shoe option of ₹4,000 crore, taking the total issue size to ₹5,000 crore. The bonds will have a tenure of 10 years from the deemed date of allotment, with annual redemption payments starting from the end of the fourth year.
The coupon rate, interest payment schedule and principal payment terms will be finalised after bidding on the Electronic Book Provider platform. The company said the bonds will remain unsecured and will carry no special rights, interests or privileges.
POWERGRID also stated that there has been no delay or default in payment of interest or principal for more than three months from the due date. It reported no letter or comment concerning payment or non-payment of interest or principal, or any matter linked to the security or assets. Details relating to redemption of preference shares and debentures were marked not applicable.
The Committee of Directors for Bonds met on Sept. 18, 2026. The meeting began at 11:15 a.m. and ended at 11:30 a.m.
