The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) marked the 79th Independence Day in Pahalgam, standing in solidarity with the people of Kashmir and reaffirming its support for the Armed Forces. This gesture reflects ICAI’s commitment to stand by the citizens of Jammu & Kashmir during challenging times.
During the celebration, CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, President of ICAI, emphasized the organization’s unity with the Valley. He stated, “Our presence here goes beyond symbolism; it signifies hope, the belief in the return of normalcy, and a promise to collaborate for lasting peace and shared prosperity. This Council Meeting was not merely about governance but a statement of courage, continuity, and collective strength.”
As a demonstration of solidarity with the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the Armed Forces, ICAI held its 445th Council Meeting in Pahalgam from August 12–14, 2025. The event gathered over 40 senior council members and their families, showcasing confidence in the region following the tragic Baisaran incident of April 22.
Shri Omar Abdullah, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, expressed gratitude to ICAI for selecting Pahalgam for this significant gathering. He acknowledged the weight of ICAI’s presence, stating that it sends a strong message of faith and support, instilling hope for a brighter future for the region.
CA. Prasanna Kumar D, Vice-President of ICAI, highlighted the organization’s pride in being the first institution to bring its entire senior leadership to Pahalgam post the tragic incident. Celebrating Independence Day in Pahalgam showcased ICAI’s dedication to the people of the valley and its solidarity with the armed forces.
ICAI reiterated its commitment to bolstering local livelihoods, revitalizing commerce, and restoring everyday joys in Pahalgam. The echoes of the national anthem resonated through the valley, emphasizing ICAI’s belief in community strength during challenging times and honoring the resilience of the ordinary citizens of Jammu & Kashmir.
