Why is every sound aficionado today gushing over Analog Systems?

A technology which was extremely popular in the Sixties has suddenly made a surprising come back. Most Music lovers are gushing over Analog Systems and today, on the Internet, there are a plethora of sellers who are selling 15- 20 years old (second hand) Analog Amplifiers. Business is roaring for them. These are usually Class A, Class AB linear amplifiers, which have active output transistors, they conduct current over a continuously varying range throughout the waveform cycle. They were mostly widespread during the Fifties and Sixties and the Hi-Fi, Stereo became a household name. While in the late 1990s and Mid 2000s another kind of amplifier – the Digital Amplifiers, Class-D or switching amplifiers became widely popular. Advancements in silicon-based MOSFET technology made these Amplifiers practical, efficient and affordable. Then came the era of AV Receivers with Surround Sound capability. They converted Homes into small Theatres where a person could watch Films with a Range of systems which could manoeuvre sound into 5.1,7.2, 9.2 Channels with Proprietary – Dolby, DTS HD, Dolby Atmos, 360 Reality Audio, 3D Audio Formats and a plethora of new Audio Formats and supporting systems.

However, the older Analog Systems have suddenly and most amazingly made a resounding come back. Analogue sound systems process and transmit audio as continuous physical waveforms. Instead of converting music into binary code (1s and 0s) like digital systems do. They rely on physical media and Continuous electrical Voltage to preserve the smooth, original waveform. As the signal from the Source or Pre Amp may be weak it requires Amplifies to enhance it. An Analog amplifier may use Vacuum Tubes or transistors to increase the Voltage and current of the signal. Readers will recall that in 1910s to 1940s Vacuum Tubes became common after Lee De Forest’s 1906 invention of the triode vacuum tube. Today Analog Amplifiers have become the toast of sound aficionados. While Digital Sound is Compressed, Analog cannot be compressed. Analog sound systems are experiencing a massive resurgence (especially amongst Gen Z) because they offer a tactile, screen-free listening experience and produce a continuous waveform. People are now towards the physical Warmth and organic harmonic distortion associated with Analog machines.

While Valve Amplifiers are becoming popular, real Music Lovers are at a loss where to procure Genuine and Quality Valve Amplifiers. Most big names have exorbitant costs and sometimes a customer has to buy ‘blind’ since there are no provisions for a ‘Demo’. At times, these expensive, mass produced, Amplifiers are not paired with matching Speakers, making the entire set up mixed up and frustrating. A botched up, expensive Sound Set Up tends to add insult to injury. The solution lies in locating someone who has a quality, ‘In House’ batch producing facility of both Analog Amplifiers and Speakers. One such outlet is Unique AV electronics in C.R. Park, South Delhi. The owner, himself a Sound Techie and an acclaimed Western classical violin Player along with electronics and telecommunication engineer has dedicated a good part of his life to the fascinating world of sound reproduction. The facility has a Lab, Production Line, R&D Facility, Repair Benches the whole lot. The Range of Sound Products are sold under the Brand Name- Sanalogue. They manufacture and sell Audiophile graded Vacuum Tube Amplifiers, Pure Analog Amplifiers, Class A Amplifiers, Tube Amplifier, Hybrid amplifier, Speakers – Bookshelf, Floor Standing, In Wall Speakers, Woofers, CD Players (Sanyo Pallet Movement) and also have Service & Repair Facilities. It also does Turnkey Jobs for the Industry, Factory, Corporate and Home Theatre Segments. Steeped in the tradition of understanding, empathising and insightful reflection on the customers’ needs often the interaction with the setup is an experience worth remembering. Many a times a customer finds himself not merely in need of a great sound system but also the felt need for yielding to the aural senses. Listening to a good recording needs the kind of a system which brings out the hidden elements and unheard-of sounds which the musician wanted to actually convey but is lost merely by lack of a good Music System. With Sanalogue, one can build up a Music/Audio Video System at one go or exponentially by adding equipment as per ones changing needs. Mind you, none of the equipment sold & serviced by Sanalogue is going to become obsolete soon. Most of what they sell is future proof and the organization is here to stay so it’s a safe place to procure equipment.
