Rishikesh, July 12, 2025 (By Ansari Z A) Thirty-eight years ago, in 1988, India laid the foundation for a transformative leap in its power sector by establishing a dedicated organization focused on clean, reliable, and large-scale energy generation. Over the years, this enterprise has played a pivotal role in powering the nation’s growth story—building dams, integrating renewable energy sources, and now diversifying into thermal generation to meet rising demand. Through consistent innovation and commitment to sustainability, it has emerged as a key pillar in India’s energy security framework.
That institution is THDC India Limited (THDCIL)—a premier public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. On July 12, 2025, THDCIL celebrated its 38th Foundation Day with nationwide pride, hosting commemorative events at its Corporate Office in Rishikesh and across all project and unit offices.
The celebrations commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony by Shri R.K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony at Rasmanjari Hall. Joining Shri Vishnoi were Shri Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel); Shri Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical); and Shri Sipan Kumar Garg, Director (Finance). The event saw enthusiastic participation from employees and their families across the organization.
In his keynote address, Shri R.K. Vishnoi said, “This Foundation Day is more than a celebration—it is a reaffirmation of our strategic vision to become a leading energy enterprise aligned with India’s Net Zero commitments and energy security goals. Our recent achievements reflect the dedication, unity, and excellence of our entire workforce. It is the people of THDCIL who have been the true driving force behind our continued progress and transformation.”
He further praised the contributions of THDCIL’s Board of Directors, highlighting the exceptional leadership of Shri Shallinder Singh, Shri Bhupender Gupta, and Shri Sipan Kumar Garg in shaping the organization’s recent successes.
