Gurugram, 3rd July 2026: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, has achieved a significant milestone by securing a landmark green loan of JPY 80 billion from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
The loan agreement was signed on 17.06.2026, marking a strategic collaboration that will finance the Khavda-Nagpur HVDC transmission project. This vital initiative underscores POWERGRID’s pivotal role in accelerating India’s renewable energy integration and strengthening the national power transmission infrastructure.
This green financing reflects POWERGRID’s strong commitment to sustainable development. The company has deeply integrated Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into its core operations and is steadily advancing towards its ambitious targets — net zero emissions by 2047, zero waste to landfill by 2030, and net water positive by 2030.
