Lucknow, 14/09/2023 – The ‘National Meet of RTI Act,’ organized by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), commenced with an inauguration ceremony attended by key dignitaries. Shri Y.K. Sinha, Chief Information Commissioner, officially opened the event, with the presence of Shri K. Ravinder Naik, IAS, Principal Secretary, Secretariat Administrative Department of the UP Government. Shri Atul Sobti, Director General of SCOPE, also addressed the inaugural session of this two-day program, which saw the participation of senior officials from the UP Government and various Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs). More than 100 participants from 37 PSEs have convened for this informative gathering.
In his inaugural address, Shri Y.K. Sinha underscored the pivotal role that Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) play in the country’s development. However, he stressed that in addition to their significant contributions, these enterprises must prioritize transparency, accountability, and good governance. Sinha highlighted that transparency and accountability are essential foundations for organizational performance, emphasizing the importance of workshops like the one organized by SCOPE.
Shri K. Ravinder Naik, while addressing the participants, commended SCOPE for organizing the RTI Meet in Lucknow. He emphasized its importance in enhancing the knowledge and understanding of information seekers and public authorities, particularly in the largest state of the country, which receives a substantial number of RTI applications.
Shri Atul Sobti, Director General of SCOPE, emphasized the citizen-centric nature of the RTI Act, which promotes transparency, ethics, and accountability, and empowers citizens. Recognizing the significant role that PSEs play in the Indian economy, he highlighted SCOPE’s commitment to organizing knowledge-sharing and experience-enhancing programs across diverse regions of the country.
SCOPE’s National Meet seeks to enrich the knowledge of senior officials, Public Information Officers (PIOs), Nodal Officers, and executives of PSEs. It aims to provide them with a deeper understanding of the RTI Act and the associated issues, enabling its effective implementation within their respective organizations.
SCOPE, as the apex body of Indian PSEs, routinely conducts workshops and capacity-building programs across the nation on a range of topics, including RTI, Corporate Governance, Climate Change, Women Empowerment, Leadership, Digital Transformation, and more.
