NTPC Boosts Renewable Capacity with New 100 MW Project

In a recent development, NTPC has announced the commencement of commercial operations for a significant segment of its renewable energy project.

As of 00:00 hours on September 17, 2025, a 100 MW portion (Lot-6) of the larger 500 MW project capacity has been successfully commissioned.

This milestone is part of the IRCON Renewable Power Limited (IRPL) project, which now sees a cumulative capacity of 400 MW in operation.

IRPL is a collaborative venture, with Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited holding a 24% share. Ayana is a fully owned subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, itself a 50% joint venture under NTPC Green Energy Limited.

Impact on NTPC Green Energy Limited’s Capacity

The successful commissioning of this new capacity is a significant boost to NTPC’s green energy portfolio. Prior to this addition, the total commercial capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) Group was recorded at 7272.575 MW. With the latest project going operational, this capacity has been enhanced to 7372.575 MW.

This development underscores NTPC’s ongoing commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint, aligning with global trends towards sustainable and environmentally friendly power solutions.
