NMDC Steel Limited Achieves Record-Breaking Results in FY26

Hyderabad, May 30, 2026 – NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), one of the leading players in the Indian steel industry, has announced exceptional financial results for the fiscal year 2026. Marking a significant turnaround from previous years, the company has not only achieved profitability but has also set new records in both production and sales.

In FY26, NMDC Steel reached its highest-ever annual production, totaling 23.25 lakh metric tonnes, a substantial 62% increase from FY25. Sales figures paralleled this growth, with the company selling 24.55 lakh metric tonnes of steel, marking a 74% rise from the previous year. These figures underscore NSL’s enhanced operational capabilities and burgeoning market acceptance.

The Nagarnar Steel Plant, a pivotal asset in NSL’s portfolio, has played a crucial role in this achievement. Within just two years of commencing operations, the plant has reached an impressive 80% average capacity utilization. This rapid ramp-up is among the swiftest in the global steel industry for a greenfield project, signifying a robust operational stabilization that has positioned NSL for sustained growth.

Financial performance for the year reflected these operational successes, with revenue from operations climbing by 60% to reach Rs. 13,642 crore. The profitability metrics were equally impressive, with the company reporting a Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs. 58.72 crore, a stark contrast to the loss of Rs. 2,373 crore seen in FY25.

The fourth quarter of FY26 continued this trend of strong performance. Production and sales grew by 45% and 40% respectively, with revenue for the quarter up by 37% year-on-year at Rs. 3,879 crore. EBITDA for Q4 stood at Rs. 832.09 crore, a significant recovery from a negative EBITDA in the same quarter of the previous year.

Shri Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC Steel Limited, expressed his satisfaction with these results, stating, “FY26 has been a watershed year for NMDC Steel. We’ve not only achieved full profitability but have also recorded unprecedented production and sales figures. This success is a testament to the efficient stabilization of the Nagarnar Steel Plant and our focus on improving efficiencies, expanding our product lineup, and solidifying our position in the market. As we move forward, our goal is to reach full capacity utilization and continue to deliver high-quality steel products that support the growth of India’s infrastructure and industrial sectors.”

These achievements herald a new era of growth and stability for NMDC Steel, positioning the company to continue its trajectory towards becoming a leading force in the steel industry. As operations stabilize and profitability is secured, NSL is set to build on its current successes and create enduring value for all stakeholders in the coming years.
