The Special Judge for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Jabalpur has delivered a verdict in a bribery case involving Yogesh Arora, who was a former Assistant Engineer at LIC, Jabalpur, sentencing him to four years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) along with a fine of 710,000/-.

The case dates back to 26th August 2011 when the CBI initiated proceedings against Arora following allegations that he solicited a bribe of Rs. 20,000/- from a complainant. This bribe was purportedly in exchange for favorable treatment in processing and paying bills totaling Rs. 93,000/- related to electrical maintenance work at LIC offices. Additionally, the bribe was meant to expedite the clearance of pending bills ranging from Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000/- for various small electrical maintenance projects carried out by the complainant at the LIC Office.

The CBI, in a well-coordinated operation, apprehended Arora red-handed as he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant. Subsequently, a chargesheet was filed against the accused on 31st January 2012 after thorough investigations.

Following a trial, the Honorable Court pronounced its verdict on 3rd September 2025, finding the accused guilty and handing down the aforementioned sentence.
