The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made a significant breakthrough by apprehending four individuals, including three officers of the Military Engineer Services (MES) in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, and one middleman, for accepting a bribe amounting to Rs. 80,000 from a complainant.
The accused individuals, including the Garrison Engineer (GE) and Assistant Garrison Engineer (AGE) of MES in Sagar, along with the middleman, were alleged to have demanded a bribe of 2% of the contract value, which equated to Rs. 1,00,000, through the middleman to facilitate the contractor’s access to the contract site for repair and maintenance work under the awarded contract.
Following negotiations, the accused parties settled on accepting Rs. 80,000, which was 1.5% of the contract value, from the complainant. The CBI, in a well-executed operation, caught the four individuals red-handed while accepting the bribe, leading to their prompt arrest.
The arrested individuals are scheduled to appear before the Court of Ld. Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jabalpur, on 12.09.2025. Furthermore, searches conducted at their office and residential premises resulted in the recovery of incriminating documents and items. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
