Indian Oil Corporation Limited has recently achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first Indian company to be awarded the ISCC CORSIA certification for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production at its Panipat Refinery. This certification attests to IndianOil’s ability to produce SAF that adheres to the highest international sustainability and carbon emission standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Air India outlines a shared commitment to promoting the utilization of low-carbon fuels in aviation. This initiative aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and contributes to the transition towards more sustainable air transport operations.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by key representatives including Shri Shailesh Dhar, Executive Director (Aviation) from IndianOil, Shri P. Balaji, Group Head of Governance, Regulatory, Compliance, and Corporate Affairs from Air India, as well as other dignitaries. This collaborative effort signifies a pivotal moment in India’s energy transition, bringing the nation closer to a future of eco-friendly aviation.

Shri Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India, emphasized the airline’s commitment to supporting the Government of India’s sustainable development initiatives within the aviation sector. By integrating certified green fuels into their operations, Air India aims to achieve the IATA Net Zero by 2050 target, further solidifying their dedication to environmental sustainability.

Through this strategic partnership, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Air India are pioneering sustainable aviation practices in India. By working together to supply Sustainable Aviation Fuel that meets and exceeds CORSIA targets for international flights, both companies are ensuring a reliable, transparent, and environmentally conscious fuel supply to support their collective environmental objectives.
