Specifically, the increase in demand for diesel is linked to the agricultural sector’s needs during the harvest season. Additionally, some consumers have moved away from private fuel stations due to their higher prices, preferring public sector outlets where prices are more aligned with the international market, affecting the distribution dynamics.

Despite these challenges, IndianOil reports a notable increase in fuel consumption, with a 14% rise in petrol sales and an 18% increase in diesel sales from May 1 to May 22, 2026, compared to last year. The company assures that it has been able to meet the heightened demand without disruption.

Out of its vast network of over 42,000 retail outlets, only a minimal number are experiencing issues. The majority of outlets are operating normally with ample fuel stocks. IndianOil, along with other Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), is actively monitoring the situation and has promised to take necessary actions to mitigate any issues rapidly.

IndianOil emphasizes the stability of fuel supply across the country and advises against panic buying, ensuring customers that there is no cause for concern regarding fuel scarcity.
