NHPC’s Shiksha Rath 7.0: Empowering Ladakh Through CSR

NHPC Limited’s dedication to social responsibility is exemplified through its impactful CSR initiative, Shiksha Rath 7.0, which recently concluded in Turtuk, Ladakh.

The closing ceremony, held on 17.08.2025, was a momentous occasion attended by key stakeholders, including Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel) of NHPC, and local dignitaries.

The event celebrated the successful implementation of various projects aimed at fostering sustainable development and empowerment in the region. One of the highlights of the ceremony was the inauguration of homestay units supported by NHPC’s CSR efforts.

These initiatives not only promote border tourism but also create valuable livelihood opportunities for the local community. Furthermore, the distribution of 30 sewing machines to women who completed professional tailoring training underscores NHPC’s commitment to skill development and women’s empowerment.

Rath 7.0, launched on 06.10.2024, has made significant strides in enhancing the quality of life in remote border villages of Ladakh. Through partnerships with organizations like the Samaarambh Foundation, the initiative has addressed critical areas such as health awareness, education, skill-building, and sustainable livelihoods.

From promoting menstrual hygiene to preserving traditional crafts through handloom training, the program has touched the lives of many individuals in the region.

NHPC’s focus on inclusive and sustainable development is evident in the diverse interventions undertaken as part of Shiksha Rath 7.0. By leveraging its resources and expertise, NHPC Limited continues to drive positive change in Ladakh, setting a benchmark for corporate social responsibility in challenging and crucial regions of the country.
