On June 16, 2025, NHPC entered into a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to introduce a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative called “Shakti Saadhana – Empowering Weightlifters for Sporting Brilliance.” The signing ceremony took place at the SAI headquarters in New Delhi, with the presence of Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel) at NHPC.
As part of this initiative, NHPC will extend its support to train young weightlifting talents aged between 9 to 13 from 30 States/Union Territories across the country. The program will encompass residential training, professional coaching, physiotherapy, and other essential facilities to nurture these budding athletes.
The MoU signing ceremony involved Shri Miren Kumar Verma, Head of CSR & Sustainable Development Division at NHPC, Shri Kamkhan Singh, Under Secretary at NSDF, and Col. N.S. Johal, CEO (TOPS) at SAI.
