Mumbai, April 07, 2026: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has once again demonstrated its operational strength by seamlessly meeting the surge in demand for petrol, diesel, and LPG across the country, even as some regions witnessed temporary spikes in consumption.
Between April 1 and April 6, 2026, the company recorded robust sales of 2,27,086 kilolitres of petrol and 4,05,398 kilolitres of diesel. To keep retail outlets well-stocked and prevent any disruption, HPCL dispatched as many as 40,215 tankers loaded with petrol, diesel, and PDS kerosene, ensuring smooth and timely supplies to millions of consumers nationwide.
In the LPG segment, HPCL achieved a commendable milestone by delivering 75,18,000 domestic cylinders during the same six-day period. This reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to providing reliable cooking fuel to households across India. Additionally, to support migrant workers and economically weaker sections, the company supplied 1,45,447 Free Trade LPG cylinders of 5 kg and 13,600 cylinders of 2 kg.
Digital adoption for LPG bookings continues to remain exceptionally strong, with 94.5% of all transactions being carried out through convenient platforms such as IVRS, SMS, Missed Call, HP PAY, and WhatsApp. Deliveries are further secured through advanced DAC/OTP verification systems, bringing greater transparency and safety for customers.
On the enforcement front, HPCL has intensified its drive against malpractices to protect genuine consumers and maintain the integrity of its distribution network. From March 14 to April 6, 2026, the company conducted 4,302 inspections and took strict action against 68 distributors, including the suspension of 25 distributorships. In joint operations with other Oil Marketing Companies and state authorities, 656 raids were carried out, leading to 40 FIRs and the seizure of 3,163 LPG cylinders.
HPCL has reassured the public that the overall supply of both fuel and LPG remains stable and sufficient across its extensive network. The company clarified that any occasional pressure at select locations is primarily due to temporary demand surges and panic buying, rather than any shortfall in availability. Operations are running at full throttle to meet consumer needs effectively.
HPCL has appealed to customers to place LPG refill orders only as per their actual requirement and avoid unnecessary hoarding.
