Chhota Bheem Champions Hydropower in NHPC’s New Comic

The golden jubilee celebration of NHPC Limited not only marks a significant milestone in the company’s history but also reflects the evolving landscape of India’s energy sector. The release of the ₹50 Commemorative Coin by Shri Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, symbolizes the national recognition of NHPC’s contributions over the past fifty years.

In his address during the release event, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted the strategic role of NHPC in the nation’s progress towards energy autonomy and sustainability. “As we move forward, the principles of sustainability and innovation will continue guiding NHPC. The journey of NHPC is not just about generating power but powering the lives of millions with sustainable and affordable energy,” he remarked.

The comic book release, “Chhota Bheem aur Bada Bandh”, is particularly noteworthy as it represents a creative approach to educating young minds about the benefits of hydropower. Through the adventures of Chhota Bheem, a beloved character among Indian children, the comic book aims to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and interest in renewable energy sources from a young age. This initiative is expected to help in shaping public perception towards green energy in a positive manner.

Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD of NHPC, in his speech, reflected on the company’s journey, emphasizing the technological advancements and the pioneering projects that have marked NHPC’s five decades of service. “Our commitment to sustainability is demonstrated through our continuous expansion into solar, wind, and green hydrogen projects, and by maintaining a robust portfolio of hydropower projects that adhere to the highest standards of environmental management,” he stated.

NHPC’s ongoing projects further underline its role in bolstering the country’s infrastructure to meet increasing energy demands while adhering to sustainable practices. The additional 14 projects, which are currently under construction and will collectively add 9704 MW to NHPC’s capacity, are set to significantly boost India’s clean energy output.

As NHPC looks to the future, the focus remains on innovation and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to enhance efficiency and environmental compatibility. The organization’s dedication to green energy solutions aligns with the global shift towards reducing carbon footprints and combating climate change.

This momentous occasion was covered extensively, capturing the essence of NHPC’s pivotal contributions to India’s energy sector. The event not only celebrated past achievements but also set a progressive agenda for the future, aiming to continue the legacy of innovation and excellence in the power industry.
