SCOPE Conducts 51st Annual General Meeting, Aims to Empower Public Sector Enterprises
The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), the premier organization of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), recently held its 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM). The event was distinguished by the presence of key figures including Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy, the Chairman of SCOPE & CMD of NBCC; Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Vice-Chairman of SCOPE & CMD of Goa Shipyard Ltd.; and Shri Atul Sobti, Director General of SCOPE. A notable gathering of CMDs, Directors, and senior officials attended the meeting, which focused on reviewing past achievements and setting forth a strategic direction for the future.
Initiatives and Achievements
During the AGM, several significant initiatives by SCOPE were highlighted:
- The introduction and membership expansion of the SCOPE Social Interaction Centre.
- Enhancements in leadership development programs such as DAKSH and AGLP 2.0, aimed at nurturing adept future leaders.
- The role of SCOPE in advancing the PSE ecosystem, showcased by the prestigious SCOPE Awards.
The conference also emphasized SCOPE’s vital role in policy advocacy and its achievements in engaging with international bodies like the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as important national platforms such as the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), and Directorate of Trade Unions & National Board of Workers Education & Development (DTNBWED). These collaborations have been instrumental in aligning PSE operations with global best practices and promoting sustainable development initiatives.
Future Directions for a Developed India
Looking forward, SCOPE has articulated a clear vision to further bolster the role of PSEs in achieving a developed (Viksit) India. The strategy includes:
- Continuing robust policy advocacy to influence and shape effective policies.
- Further developing leadership and skill-building programs to prepare PSEs for future challenges.
- Promoting its arbitration wing, the SCOPE Forum for Conciliation and Arbitration (SFCA).
- Expanding its outreach activities to reinforce the foundational vision of a strong public sector.
