Rishikesh :Under the astute leadership of Shri R.K. Vishnoi, Chairman & Managing Director of THDC India Limited (THDCIL), the company has achieved a major milestone in the energy sector. On 28th August 2025, Unit-2 (660 MW) of the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (KSTPP) was successfully synchronized with the National Grid, marking a significant step towards the full commissioning of the project.
Shri R.K. Vishnoi emphasized the importance of this achievement, stating that the synchronization of Unit-2 is a decisive step towards enhancing India’s power generation capacity. He highlighted THDCIL’s commitment to bolstering the nation’s energy security and expanding its presence in the energy sector.
This milestone signifies the company’s strategic diversification into thermal power, complementing its existing renewable energy portfolio to ensure a balanced and sustainable energy mix. The successful synchronization of Unit-2 showcases THDCIL’s focus on operational excellence, environmental responsibility, and long-term energy security for the country. Equipped with advanced boilers, turbines, and state-of-the-art emission control systems, including FGD and Low-NOx burners, the Khurja STPP demonstrates the company’s dedication to cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices. During the synchronization event, Shri Shallinder Singh was felicitated, adding significance to the occasion.
Shri R.K. Vishnoi commended the THDCIL Board for their proactive decisions, which have been instrumental in driving the organization’s steady progress and growth. Director (Technical) Shri Bhupender Gupta highlighted the technical prowess of THDCIL in executing complex power projects, underscoring the successful synchronization of Unit-2 as a crucial step towards the commissioning of the KSTPP. With Unit-2 now synchronized with the national grid, the project is poised to deliver reliable base load power, crucial for meeting peak demand scenarios, and aligning with India’s vision of a self-sufficient energy future.
Acknowledging the collaborative effort, ED (Project) Shri Kumar Sharad credited the entire KSTPP team for their dedication and hard work in achieving this significant milestone. The event was graced by key officials from THDC India Limited, NTPC Consultancy, BHEL, LMB, STEAG, and GE, reaffirming the collaboration and shared vision for a sustainable energy future.
