OGEL partners with NRL to boost renewable energy use, aiming for net zero emissions by 2040

In a significant step toward advancing sustainable energy practices, OIL Green Energy Limited (OGEL), a subsidiary of Oil India Limited, has partnered with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement, established on April 20, 2026, focuses on the joint development, procurement, and supply of renewable energy resources, particularly for group captive use.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by key figures including Rajeev Kumar Tamuli, General Manager of OGEL, and Rupam Kumar Sarma, General Manager (Technical Services) at NRL. Dignitaries such as the CMD of OIL, the Chairman of NRL, the Managing Director of NRL, Directors of both OIL and NRL, and the CEO of OGEL, along with other senior officials from the two organizations, were present to witness the event.

This initiative is a pivotal element of OGEL’s strategy to incorporate renewable energy into its broader operational framework. It aims to enhance the company’s renewable energy portfolio and support Oil India Limited’s objective to achieve net zero emissions by 2040. Additionally, this effort aligns with the Government of India’s ambitious goal to reach net zero emissions by the year 2070, marking a proactive step in the nation’s energy sector transformation.
