Hyderabad, July 22, 2026: In a boost to grassroots sports, Navratna PSU NMDC Limited is set to organise the NMDC Bailadila Kabaddi League from July 23 to 26 in Dantewada district, Chhattisgarh. The CSR-driven tournament will provide a competitive platform to players from 26 villages across the Bacheli and Kirandul regions, aiming to discover and nurture emerging sporting talent in rural areas.
A total of 24 teams representing as many Gram Panchayats will battle it out. Matches are scheduled at the Football Stadium in Kirandul and the Hockey Ground in Bacheli, with opening and closing ceremonies at the Hockey Ground in NMDC Township, Bacheli. To ensure player safety and comfort, organisers have installed a waterproof German hangar and laid synthetic rubber mats at the venues.
NMDC will supply complete sports kits and all necessary equipment to participating teams. The event is expected to draw Sarpanches of the Gram Panchayats, public representatives, senior officials from NMDC Headquarters in Hyderabad, project officials from Kirandul and Bacheli mines, and labour union representatives. Winning and runner-up teams, along with standout performers, will be felicitated at the closing ceremony.
This initiative reflects NMDC’s sustained commitment to fostering a sporting culture among rural youth and creating pathways for them to reach higher levels of competition.
