The Women in Power Sector (WIPS) Cell of NHPC, India’s premier hydropower company, in association with Training and HRD Division, NHPC organized a one-day workshop themed ‘Choose to Challenge’ for NHPC women employees on 15th March 2021 to commemorate International Day of Women. The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Shri A.K. Singh, CMD, NHPC in the presence of Shri N.K. Jain, Director (Personnel), Shri Y.K. Chaubey, Director (Technical), Shri R.P. Goyal, Director (Finance), Shri Biswajit Basu, Director (Projects) and other senior officers and women employees of NHPC. The programme was telecast live across all NHPC Regional Officers, Power Stations and Projects to enable participation of all NHPC women employees posted at these locations. Ms. Harpreet A De Singh, CEO, Alliance Air was a special guest of honour and speaker in the opening session of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Shri A.K. Singh, CMD, NHPC commended all the women employees for their hard work, commitment and professionalism in contributing towards NHPC. He further informed that currently three very important divisions in NHPC, namely IT&C, Medical Services and Law are being headed by women employees namely Ms. Savitri Srivastav, Executive Director (IT&C), Dr. Kamla Fartyal, Chief General Manager (Medical Services) and Ms Madhusmita Pany, General Manager (Law) which is a indeed a matter of great pride for NHPC. The one-day workshop included interactive sessions on a variety of topics dealing with women empowerment, leadership, work-life balance, yoga and meditation etc. held by leading women experts from a diverse range of fields. The speakers for the workshop included Ms. Harpreet A. De Singh, CEO, Alliance Air, Dr Ekta Soni, Chief (Psychology Dept.), Apollo Hospitals and B.K. Sunita Batra, Brahma Kumaris Association. The sessions were highly enriching for all the participating NHPC women employees who received valuable insights and ideas for application into their daily professional and personal lives.
