New Delhi: NBCC (India) Ltd., a distinguished Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise, has embarked on constructing the prestigious Institute of Eminence (IoE) at the University of Delhi’s North Campus. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs.330 crore, promises to revolutionize academic infrastructure over a sprawling 4.8-acre site at Maurice Nagar. Designed to be a beacon of sustainability and modernity, the IoE will feature an environmentally friendly 3-Star GRIHA-rated facility, sprawling across approximately 4.55 lakh sq. ft., equipped to accommodate around 1800 students.

The ceremonial Bhoomi Poojan, marking the initiation of this landmark project, took place on September 23, 2025. The event saw the presence of several luminaries including Shri Yogesh Singh, the Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi; Dr. Vikas Gupta, Registrar; Prof Balaram Pani, Dean of Colleges; Prof. Rajni Abbi, Proctor; and from NBCC, Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman & Managing Director; Shri Saleem Ahmad, Director (Projects); and Shri Rajeev Kumar, Chief General Manager, along with other dignitaries and officials from both organizations.
This Inter-disciplinary Academic, Administrative, and Research Building is poised to set a new standard for eco-friendly construction within academic spheres across the country. The building will include cutting-edge facilities such as a modern library, multiple lecture theaters, classrooms, seminar halls, multipurpose rooms, and ample office space for the teaching staff. Additionally, the infrastructure will incorporate advanced sustainable features like a 500,000-litre rainwater harvesting system, a 75 kW rooftop solar power installation, and an organic waste converter, among others.
In keeping with the ethos of innovation and future-readiness, the Institute of Eminence will also offer state-of-the-art academic amenities. These include smart classrooms and laboratories equipped for the highest standards of research and learning, barrier-free access ensuring inclusivity, and energy-efficient fixtures to minimize environmental impact. The design also thoughtfully includes green coverage with integrated landscape features and preserved existing trees, aligning with sustainable architectural practices.
By launching the IoE project, NBCC reinforces its commitment to spearheading projects that are not only functionally superior but also sustainably responsible. This initiative is aligned with the national objectives of fostering world-class educational facilities and promoting sustainable development. The Institute of Eminence at the University of Delhi is set to become a cornerstone of academic excellence and ecological stewardship, propelling India’s higher education to global prominence.
