Kolkata is preparing for a new role in the international energy calendar, with India Energy Week 2027 set to bring a major global energy dialogue to eastern India for the first time.
The fifth edition of India Energy Week, or IEW 2027, will be held from 28–31 January 2027 at the New Town Convention Centre, Kolkata, under the theme “Unlocking Innovation. Securing Energy. Shaping Tomorrow.”
The host city was formally announced in Kolkata on September 28, 2026, by Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri along with Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Shri Suvendu Adhikari, according to the announcement.
The decision places Kolkata at the centre of a high-level gathering expected to draw 75,000+ energy professionals and 700+ international exhibitors**. Policymakers, energy executives, technology innovators, investors and industry stakeholders from across the world are expected to attend.
The event arrives at a time when India’s energy demand is expanding amid a changing global energy landscape. IEW 2027 is expected to focus on the choices, technologies and partnerships shaping energy security, affordability and sustainability.
Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India Energy Week has expanded rapidly since its first edition in Bengaluru in 2023. Its fourth edition in **Goa in 2026 drew 75,000+ energy professionals**, 700+ exhibiting companies**, participants from more than 120 countries and 6,500+ conference delegates.
The Kolkata edition will build on that scale while widening the event’s geographical reach. For eastern India, the move creates a platform for regional businesses, institutions and energy stakeholders to engage with international partners and participate in global discussions on energy transition, innovation and security.
IEW 2027 will cover developments across **oil and gas, LNG, refining and petrochemicals, hydrogen, biofuels, digitalisation and AI, along with other emerging areas in the energy sector.
The international dimension of the event has also grown. At IEW 2026, 17 Ministers and Deputy Ministers from countries including the UAE, Canada, Netherlands, Oman, Brunei, Myanmar and Tanzania participated. International organisations including the **International Energy Forum, BIMSTEC and the Eurasian Economic Union also took part.
As energy security, investment, technology and sustainability become more closely linked, the Kolkata edition is positioned as a major forum for global energy stakeholders to discuss practical approaches for the sector.
