The forthcoming India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 is set to be staged in Goa from January 27 to January 30, 2026. This event is anticipated to be a pivotal gathering in the global energy calendar, attracting ministers, chief executives from various industries, policy makers, financial bodies, academic figures, and technology experts. This assembly aims to tackle pressing issues such as enhancing energy security, fostering investment, and exploring effective decarbonization strategies.
At a time when the demand for energy is surging, heightened by geopolitical instability and escalated climate action pledges, IEW 2026 aims to be a crucial venue for international dialogue and collaboration. Building on the success of its predecessors, this edition plans to host representatives from over 120 countries, surpassing the participation seen in 2025 which included 68,000 attendees and 570 exhibitors.
This premier event is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) and dmg events. It serves as an independent and internationally connected platform that discusses key issues including energy affordability and sustainability. Delegates from regions such as the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific are expected, highlighting IEW’s increasing influence in global energy discussions.
According to the International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook 2025, India is projected to account for a significant portion of the global increase in energy demand by 2050. In this context, IEW 2026 will facilitate crucial discussions among policymakers and industry leaders about fortifying resilient energy infrastructures and speeding up the transition to cleaner energy solutions.
The event will also shine a light on India’s energy policies which are driven by reforms aimed at balancing economic growth with climate responsibility and consumer protection. Recent legislative changes have bolstered the framework for oilfield exploration and production, ensuring more streamlined processes and better lease terms.
Additionally, India’s commitment to clean energy is evident in its ethanol blending program, which has set a global standard by significantly reducing foreign exchange expenditures and CO₂ emissions, while supporting local ethanol producers and farmers.
Furthermore, India has made considerable strides in expanding its domestic energy infrastructure, enhancing energy security. The number of petrol outlets and CNG stations has significantly increased, alongside the expansion of the natural gas pipeline network and the broad coverage of City Gas Distribution.
Despite the global fluctuations in energy prices, India has managed to maintain consumer-friendly pricing policies. This stability is facilitated by strategic excise duty adjustments and direct interventions by Oil Marketing Companies to moderate fuel prices.
IEW 2026 will not only be a forum for high-level policy discussions but will also feature technology exhibitions, social gatherings, and extensive media interactions. Special focus will be given to emerging themes such as green finance, hydrogen economies, and sustainable fuels.
