HPCL Forms Alliance with IFSDMS for Advanced Fire Safety Training

Mumbai, March 04, 2026: In a significant move to bolster emergency management, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has entered into a collaboration with the Institute of Fire, Safety & Disaster Management Studies (IFSDMS). This partnership focuses on enhancing the emergency response skills of its personnel through intensive Live Fire Training programs.

The formalization of this partnership was marked by a signing ceremony featuring key personnel, including Shri Dharmendra Kumar Sharma, HPCL’s Executive Director of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), and Shri Dharmendra Wakharikar, Chief Coordinator of IFSDMS. The event was also graced by Shri Vikram Mahurkar, President of IFSDMS and Managing Director of Checkmate Group.

HPCL, recognized as a Maharatna CPSE, is a pivotal entity in India’s energy landscape, managing a vast network that includes refineries, depots, terminals, and over 21,000 retail outlets. The collaboration with IFSDMS is designed to elevate the practical skills of HPCL’s officers by integrating hands-on live-fire drills with traditional classroom training. This approach ensures that the personnel are well-prepared to tackle high-risk situations in industrial environments.

IFSDMS is strategically located near Vadodara and occupies a 75-acre facility equipped with sophisticated training amenities. The institute specializes in using industrial mock-ups, such as process units and LPG facilities, to conduct dynamic and realistic live-fire exercises that mimic the challenges faced during actual industrial emergencies.

Through this initiative, HPCL is set to reinforce its commitment to maintaining a robust safety culture and enhancing the operational readiness and emergency response capabilities of its workforce. This is crucial for the protection of vital energy infrastructure and improving the company’s overall resilience to handle industrial crises.

  • Partnership Focus: Enhance emergency response training through live-fire drills.
  • Collaboration Benefits: Improved safety culture, operational readiness, and effective handling of industrial emergencies.
  • Training Facility: Advanced setup at IFSDMS with realistic industrial simulations.
