The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has officially scheduled a selection meeting for the prestigious role of Director (Projects) at GAIL (India) Limited, a Schedule A company. This critical meeting is set to take place via video conferencing on June 13, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. In an effort to ensure a thorough and informed selection process, the Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has been requested to attend and provide valuable insights to assist the Board.

The Board has meticulously shortlisted a group of high-caliber candidates for this significant position, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise from various corners of the energy sector. Among the nominees are Shri Ajay Tripathi, currently serving as Executive Director (PC-0&M) at GAIL (India) Limited, and Shri Aloke Kumar Naskar, who holds the position of Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer at GMPL, GAIL (India) Limited.

Joining them in the list of distinguished candidates are Shri Atul Kumar Tripathi, presently the Executive Director (Projects) at GAIL (India) Limited, and Shri Anupam Mukhopadhyay, the Chief Executive Officer of GAIL (India) Limited. Shri Kapil Kumar Jain, who operates as the Executive Director (MKG. – RETAIL LNG) at GAIL (India) Limited, is also a notable contender.

Adding to this impressive lineup, Shri Praveer Kumar Srivastava, the Executive Director ED(O&M)-WR & Zonal Marketing ED at GAIL (India) Limited, and Shri Rakesh Kumar Singh, serving as the Executive Director (O&M-Central Region) & Officer In Charge at Vijaipur, GAIL (India) Limited, have been included in the candidate list. Their emails, such as rksingh@gail.co.in, have been noted for official communication.

The selection pool is further enriched by candidates from other leading public sector undertakings. Shri Manoj Kumar Sharma, who is the Executive Director and Regional Head at Indian Oil Corporation Limited, alongside Shri Sanjay Kumar Papneja, the Executive Director (Project-Process) at the same institution, are both in the running.

Moreover, the selection committee has also considered candidates from beyond the natural gas sector. Shri Biju Gopinath, who is currently the Executive Director (Pipelines) at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Shri Srinivas Muppaala, the Development Commissioner SEZ Vizag and Development Commissioner at Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ), have been called upon to potentially bring their unique perspectives to GAIL (India) Limited.

Lastly, Shri Anjan Kumar Mishra, Secretary at the Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board in New Delhi, rounds out this list of eminent professionals, each poised to potentially steer GAIL in new and innovative directions.

As the selection date approaches, anticipation builds within the industry to see who will ultimately be chosen to lead one of the most critical projects segments in one of India’s largest public sector energy companies.
